Rebecca Bell Sorensen, the 50th & France neighborhood's director, describes the district as a "European-style village" rather than a strip mall — a walkable block of locally owned and curated shops anchored by more than 1,000 free parking spaces and genuinely bikeable streets. It draws shoppers, families, and food enthusiasts year-round, and spring 2024 brought a wave of new openings worth knowing about.
Edina Art Fair
The 57th annual Edina Art Fair (May 31–June 2, 2024) featured 250 artists working across a range of mediums under the theme "Metamorphosis." Featured artist John Vogl describes his work as blending "traditional and digital approaches, with a focus on evocative detail." The weekend included two beer gardens, a live stage curated by John Swardson, food vendors, a children's entertainment zone, and artist marketplaces.
Beyond the art fair, the district runs a Friday night concert series, Saturday morning Storytime on the Plaza book readings, and a rotating Vintage Village on weekends throughout the year.
New Dining
Extract Juicery opened its first Minnesota location at 50th & France, offering cold-pressed juices, organic acai bowls, overnight oats, and artisanal toast options.
Cooks | Bellecour — a partnership between Cooks of Crocus Hill and acclaimed chef Gavin Kaysen — offers culinary classes and local crop shares, making it as much an experience destination as a retail one.
Mr. Paul's Supper Club features Po' Boys at lunch and transforms into Back Door Burger Bar on Thursday through Saturday evenings with rotating creative specials.
Raag Indian Cuisine hosts wine-paired creative workshops on stained glass, pottery, and painting, led by Katie Ross of The Arts Creative — an example of the district's tendency to blur the line between retail, dining, and experience.
New Retail
East West Girl, a tween-focused boutique curated by Monica Hintz, carries clothing, accessories, makeup, and home décor for the younger shopper. Margaret O'Leary specializes in summer knits for boating season. Coccinella stocks fresh olive oils, and Cos Bar brings luxury beauty products to the neighborhood.
